One of my favorite end grain cutting board patterns is the basket weave pattern. There are many different versions of this design and in this video I show how I build the most basic of them.
This is a great entry into patterned boards. The pattern is created with only two species of wood and simple square blocks. The techniques learned can be carried over into more intricate designs.
